I had a wonderful opportunity to visit New York during my favorite month, December! Not to mention that it is my birthday month (December 22nd to be exact), we have a holiday that brings families and friends together, and the end of one year to the beginning of another.
There are a few things that I would recommend for anyone visiting New York during December. Throughout my visit there I did as much sight seeing as the eye can see. Listing everything I did and is worth a go would be a little too long for any one's taste. However, here are a few things I would recommend:
- What to wear? LAYERS, layers, and some more layers. I've never felt a cold like that in my entire life. It also doesn't help the fact that I was born and raised in Las Vegas. I wore 2 socks, 3 bottom layers, and 4 top layers. Now I understand how important a cup of hot coffee is to start any New Yorker's day.
- Where to go? Rockefeller Center! Once you're all layered up one must go to Rockefeller Center and explore. Click here for the official website to plan out all your tourist attractions. (Don't forget to ice skate and visit Times Square's Macy's department store!)
- Where to shop? Of course everyone knows of SoHo, but if you enjoy thrift shopping, try Beacons Closet, there are two locations but I went from subway to subway to reach the Brooklyn location. It's a little compact but you'll definitely find some awesome things there.
- What to eat? Peruvian food isn't a very popular type of food one just says they feel like eating. Unless they've had it before. Being Peruvian myself, I am a sucker for some ceviche and Inca Kola. Pio Pio is a Peruvian restaurant located on 10th Avenue New York. It was definitely one of the best meals I had while I was out there. Fantastic food, exceptional employees, and an awesome setting. Give it a try!
